Text Details
The big question for the future of humanity is whether that filter lies behind us - in the evolution of intelligence, for instance - or ahead of us: Perhaps any sufficiently technologically advanced species will eventually destroy itself through war or pollution. Alternatively, it might be that space and time are simply too big. Maybe the universe is full of voices that we will never hear because they are too far away or too long ago.
